Exeter City Football Club will mark 125 years since its 1901 foundation with a special anniversary match against Tranmere Rovers this Saturday. The club, currently 20th in League Two with five points from six games, will wear a specially-designed 125th anniversary kit for the occasion at St James Park.

Manager Matt Taylor said the weekend would be an extra special celebration for the club's supporters. "It's a special club," Taylor said in his pre-match press conference. "For those supporters who've been there through thick and thin from the very start of their lives and for a long time I think this weekend is extra special."

Matchday celebrations

A double-headed souvenir programme and other bespoke merchandise will be available for the historic fixture. The club is encouraging supporters to wear old Exeter City shirts to the ground, with a retro shirt competition offering the owner of the oldest shirt a pair of hospitality places at a future game. To enter, fans must wear their shirt, take a picture, and send it to the club's media email address. Former players are also hoped to be in attendance for the celebrations.

Food and drink kiosks will accept both cash and card. As part of the anniversary, pints of Carlsberg and Tribute are priced at £3 over the weekend, with all hot drinks costing £1.25. The Centre Spot Bar and Fan Zone Bar open from 11am, with the Centre Spot housing The Famous Exeter City Real Ale and Cider Emporium. A 10% discount for Trust and season ticket holders is valid from full time in the bar.

Ticket and family information

Advance ticket prices are available until midnight on Friday, with tickets on sale online via individual ticketing accounts or at the ticket office during opening hours. Any tickets purchased online or on matchday must be collected at the ticket booth in the Fan Zone. Junior Grecians are admitted free when bought with an adult ticket, limited to the first 50 per game, and all juniors must be accompanied by a supporter over 18.

The Junior Grecians Zone provides family entertainment including large screen TVs, Playstation consoles, and table football, and will have a volunteer for face painting. It opens to members from 12pm and to all children and families from 1:30pm. The club shop opens from 11am on Saturday and stocks all three City kits for the 26/27 season, with Supporters' Trust members, Junior Grecians, and season ticket holders saving 10% on full-price purchases.

Manager's perspective

Taylor reflected on the club's history and the significance of the anniversary. "We've had some fantastic times, both on and off the pitch," he said. "It's going to be special this weekend."

The match offers a chance for City to build momentum after a 1-0 away defeat to Port Vale last weekend. Their next fixture is at home to Tranmere, who sit 10th in the table, on Saturday 19 September.
