Exeter City Football Club legend Kevin Miller has died suddenly at the age of 57. The former goalkeeper and coach passed away unexpectedly overnight on Tuesday, prompting tributes from across the football community.

He joined the Grecians in 1989 under manager Terry Cooper and became a cornerstone of the side that won the Fourth Division championship the following season. Miller made over 250 appearances for the club across two spells as a player, remembered for a commanding presence and fierce competitive spirit between the posts. He retired from playing in 2015 but remained in the game, working in local non-league football before returning to St James Park as goalkeeper coach in December 2022 under Gary Caldwell.

"At just 57, his passing is a huge loss to his family, friends and everyone who knew him," Exeter City Football Club said. The club described him as a dedicated coach, respected colleague, and a popular figure whose commitment to Exeter City was unwavering. "Once a Grecian, always a Grecian," the club added, promising to commemorate his time with them.

Miller moved to Wigan Athletic as their goalkeeping coach over the summer. In a statement, Wigan Athletic said: "Although Kevin's time with Latics was far too short, he quickly became a much-loved and respected member of our first team staff." They praised his experience, professionalism, and passion.

The news comes as Exeter City, currently 20th in League Two with five points from six games, prepare for their next match. They host Tranmere Rovers at St James Park on Saturday, 19 September, looking to build on their recent 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur's under-21 side in the EFL Trophy. The club's full fixtures and current standings are available for supporters. Kevin Miller is survived by his wife and children.
